We want change

We are not the great utopia,
but we are working on what is practicable.
We are committed to a digital transformation driven by the common good, in which privacy and civil liberties are paramount.
We are convinced that a digitally networked society can be more than a privatized and commercialized surveillance apparatus. With educational and advisory formats, workshops, exhibitions and campaigns, we are committed to social and equal digital and analog participation.

We developed a prototype with a market stall in Berlin's Arminiusmarkthalle in 2022. The Public Space for Privacy is a place of digital self-determination, a real contact point that deals with the issues of an increasingly digital future. We want to strengthen participation and equality in the digital sphere and make it possible to experience alternative tools away from the market-dominating tech providers. We offer free advice and support when switching to privacy-friendly apps and platforms. We help with flashing smartphones and installing free operating systems on laptops.

Our story:
Launched as an initiative in 2017, we use art, information design and technology to make visible the hidden shifts in power by the dominant digital corporations.

The topics of data protection and privacy need to become a greater part of our everyday lives.
Democratic societies characterized by communication need open, transparent and surveillance-free communication spaces. The question arises: How do we create different, attractive places and images that detach our gaze from the existing, towards an equal, sustainable future?
Vodafone, Telekom and O2 stores on every corner with their promise: “Freedom Now!” We want to generate enthusiasm for the use of free, open software and platforms, provide people with transparent and surveillance-free tools and thus contribute to a self-determined, equal society.
